Why do we go to the library to study? Why do we wander to a coffee shop to read? At PSOAS, we want to work with you to find out what we can do in our apartments to make them better places to learn. Help us dig into what it is about spaces that lets people get into the flow.
Our mission at PSOAS is to arrange affordable housing services for young people who study in Oulu. PSOAS was founded in 1971 by the Student Union of the University of Oulu, Domus Botnica and Pohjois-Suomen oppilasasuntolat Oy. Currently, PSOAS owns over 5,500 student apartments.
At PSOAS, we do our best to offer quality student housing at the lowest price the market can bear. But we also want our residence to have the best possible experience. Since our customers are students, it is only natural that we’d want to enable them in their studies. To do that, we need to identify what we can do to make PSOAS housing an extension of the learning environment. We want to combine Urban Design, Persuasive Technology, Interior Decorating, and more to create spaces that aid students’ studies. Think to the future and try to surprise us.
In this challenge, we want to explore questions like these:
Why do people choose one space over another?
What kinds spaces encourage student workflow?
How do independent and group study needs differ?
What can be done to turn apartments into great study spaces?
